Introduction

The file hosting service Dropbox provides IGB users a quick and easy way to share IGB Quickload sites with their colleagues and collaborators over the cloud. Please follow the instructions below to properly set up your Quickload site within a Dropbox folder.

1) Follow the guidelines found on the Creating QuickLoad Sites page of the IGB User's Guide to create an IGB Quickload directory. Before uploading the Quickload to Dropbox, ensure that your Quickload works correctly on your local machine.

2) Place your created Quickload directory into the Public Dropbox folder.

3) Go into the Quickload folder and click on the contents.txt file. (You should then see an option to Copy public link...)

4) Click on Copy public link… and then select Copy to Clipboard.

5) Now open IGB and click Configure under the Data Access tab in the bottom left corner of IGB,

This will open the Data Sources tab within IGB Preferences.

6) Click the Add… button.

  • For name, enter whatever you want this server to be (Dropbox Quickload_Genome_Species, etc.).
  • For type, leave as Quickload.
  • For URL:, paste the Public Link from Dropbox.
IMPORTANT: remove the "contents.txt" from the end of the public link.

7) Hit Submit.

You should then be told that your data is now available.

8) Your data should now be available under the Species Menu.

*If further assistance is needed please contact Ann Loraine, who will forward your question to the IGB team.
