Download the latest version of IGB from bioviz.org/download.html.

Using the terminal in Linux, navigate to where the installation file (IGB_unix_current.sh) was downloaded.

For example:

cd Downloads/

Then type the following code and hit enter:

sh IGB_unix_current.sh


This should start the installation process, and the setup window should appear.


Select a folder where you would like to install IGB.


Select whether you would like to create a desktop icon.


Follow the remaining steps to complete installation.


Starting IGB

If you selected to create a desktop icon it should appear as in the image below.

Double-click on the icon to start IGB.


Some versions of Ubuntu may require an additional step to enable the IGB desktop icon.

Right-click on the IGB desktop icon.

Select Allow Launching


If you did not create a desktop icon, then you will need to navigate to where you installed IGB using the terminal.

For example:

cd /home/freese/IGB

To start IGB, type the following and hit enter:

./IntegratedGenomeBrowser
