The IGB file species.txt is a tab-delimited file that lists

  • Column 1: binomial scientific (Latin) names name for speciesan organism
  • Column 2: common name for the speciesorganism
  • Column 3: IGB-friendly  genome version name prefix (e.g., H_sapiens or A_gambiae, O_sativa_japonica, or C_sativa_CBDRx)
  • Column 4, 5, etc. (optional): Genome version name prefixes used by Galaxy, UCSC Genome Bioinformatics, or other data providers

For developers: This is the "master branch" which we use to create the released versions of IGB you download at BioViz. See also Developing Integrated Genome Browser from the IGB Developers Guide.
